As you’ve probably seen, I’ve been getting into baking quite a bit lately. Though most often I’m experimenting with baking cheats and short-cuts, the other day I decided to bake the real way, while still getting a little creative. I made this adorable pumpkin cake, something I never thought I could pull off. It was actually way easier than I thought, and I encourage all of you to try your hand at your own baking ambitions.
The coolest part about making this cake was creating the round sphere using two stainless steel bowls (something I never knew you could do). It was also my first time carving into a cake and airbrushing a cake, which was really fun and artistically exhilarating. The little mice were also so easy to make - they took less than five minutes and were made from colored fondant.
Though it was almost too pretty to eat, I served the cake to 15 of my close friends at a dinner afterwards. It was a hit! If you haven’t tried your hand at fondant cake decorating, there are likely classes nearby that offer instruction - just Google or Yelp “cake decorating classes in [your city]”.
What’s the coolest cake you’ve ever made? Send me photos at . I’d love to see them!
